SKETCHING THE PLASTER FIGURE

This is a workshop in classical drawing techniques for today's artist. A very special class offered for beginners or anyone who wants to learn the classical approach.

Because it is stationary, and because it is white, cast drawing enables the student to analyze shape and proportion, and to render the effects of light and shade without the complication of color. Students work in charcoal, exploring various techniques and mastering basic fundamentals in drawing.

Students will learn to see and measure correctly, to apply shadows, to sketch with the cross hatching technique.

If you are serious about learning to draw like the old masters and to give yourself a good foundation to start your art career, this is the class you need.

DRAWING THE STILL LIFE

Learn how to draw before you paint. Designed for beginning art students. Participants are introduced to art fundamentals by sampling drawing principles and techniques including contour, shading and perspective.

Explore composition and a variety of drawing techniques to create works of art on paper. You will also learn to do preparatory drawings for paintings.

14yrs-Adult

PAINTING THE STILL LIFE

If you're looking to improve your oil painting techniques, or acrylic painting skills, then this is the course for you.

If you already know something about painting or are more advanced and feel your paintings are lacking in one or two areas, this class is for you.

Intermediate artists will find what they need to take their painting to a new and much higher level, and can use the beginner art instruction course to make sure their foundation of knowledge is solid. Professional artists will almost certainly find a many valuable nuggets of information that will take their oil painting and acrylic painting to a new level — for less than the cost of a 4-day instructor-led painting session.

Similar art instruction on oil painting techniques, or acrylic painting at one of the larger art institutions will cost you so much more. At the present time, despite the avalanche of new styles and schools, the classical still life continues to exist.

The instructor's commitment to student’s personal artistic growth and successful studio experience is supported with individual attention and critiques, demonstrations and reference, using examples from traditional and contemporary masters.

SKETCHING THE LIVE MODEL

This class offers a unique opportunity for serious students to learn the fundamentals of life drawing in a traditional “atelier” environment. Through energetic and repetitive studies, students are guided through the complex, creative process of drawing the human figure from life.

Two days will be dedicated to drawing with fast poses and one day focused on one long pose (3hrs).

This is a unique opportunity to learn the art of sketching.

18yrs-Adults

Enrollment is limited in each Workshop so that each participant can receive individual attention.

PRIVATE SESSIONS

Private sessions are available in my studio. We can create a custom format so that you can choose exactly what you want to learn – whether it be Drawing techniques, beginning Painting, or advanced oil painting techniques.

Rates are $35 an hour or $90 for three hours per person,(students bring their own materials) (list of materials) For two people, the rates would be $25 per person per hour and $70 for three hours per person.
